Gibson, Montgomery Plan on "Raising Waylon" Thomas Gibson ("Dharma & Greg") and Poppy Montgomery ("Without a Trace") are set to star in "Raising Waylon," an original telefilm from Dan Wigutow Prods. and Sony Pictures TV. Doris Roberts is in talks to co-star. The project will likely air on CBS. Montgomery and Gibson will play singles who still hate each other 10 years after a disastrous first date. Despite this antipathy, they are given joint custody of nine-year-old Waylon, the son of mutual friends who die suddenly. After trying to pass the kid off on a great aunt (Roberts), they look for different alternatives. In this world, there are precious few certainties, but it seems likely that the little tyke will help that crazy bickering couple overcome their differences and fall in love. "Raising Waylon" is a bit like "My Two Dads" with the twist that instead of being raised by two men, the kid is raised by a man and a woman. Crazy. The project is written by Neena Beber ("Daria," the upcoming Mandy Moore feature "How to Deal") and will be directed by Sam Pillsbury (CBS' "The Wedding Dress"). Dan Wigutow (CBS' "Guilty Hearts"). Both of the project's stars have CBS telefilm experience, with Gibson starring in "Brush with Fate" and Montgomery toplining the Marilyn Monroe biopic "Blonde." Roberts has won two Emmys for her work on CBS' popular comedy "Everybody Loves Raymond." Production on "Raising Waylon" begins Sunday, June 15 in New Zealand. [source: zap2it.com] |
