MTV Also Holds "Dead Man on Campus Contest" with $50,000 Scholarship as Prize
In anticipation of the film "Dead Man on Campus" being released nationwide on August 21st, MTV: Music Television will present a full week of "Dead Man on Campus" programming on the channel between August 16 and August 21. In addition, MTV will be holding a "Dead Man on Campus" contest with one winner receiving a $50,000 scholarship courtesy of the MTV Foundation. "Dead Man on Campus" marks MTV Films' first live-action feature film with Paramount Pictures, following the hugely successful animated feature "Beavis and Butt-head Do America," which grossed over $62 million at the domestic box-office.
On Saturday, August 15 at 10:00pm (ET/PT), MTV will kick off the week with a half-hour special, "MTV's Dead Man on Campus Cram Session." Hosted by "Dead Man on Campus" cast members Alyson Hannigan and Lochlyn Munro, the comedic special is "a practical guide to surviving college". Highlights include segments on "Scamming Your Way To Straight A's," "Top Ten Dating Tips," "The History of the Party Animal," "Roommate Horror Stories," and "The Greatest College Party Tunes of All Time".
Later in the week, four cast members from "Dead Man on Campus" -- Tom Everett Scott, who starred in the Tom Hanks film "That Thing You Do!"; Mark-Paul Gosselaar, best known for his portrayal of Zack Morris in the hot television series "Saved by the Bell"; Poppy Montgomery and Lochlyn Munro -- join MTV host Carson Daly on "The Carson Daly Show" on August 17-21 at 11:00am (ET/PT). Carson interviews the cast members about the movie, shows behind-the-scenes moments from the making of the movie and previews clips from the motion picture.
Additionally, during the same week, the cast members host "MTV's Celebrity Videos" at 6:30pm (ET/PT) every evening and 2:00am (ET/PT) each morning. For this week of "Celebrity Videos", a half-hour of videos hosted by various celebrities, the "Dead Man on Campus" cast members will host the show from a fraternity house environment and offer party tips and do's and don'ts for parties as well as talk about the movie and show clips from the film.
MTV will also be holding a "Dead Man on Campus" contest during the week prior to the film's premiere. MTV viewers need only tune-in to MTV on August 16 between 10:00pm and 11:00pm (ET/PT) during the "Dead Man on Campus Cram Session" special for the contest 800-number. One winner will receive a $50,000 "Dead Man on Campus" scholarship courtesy of the MTV Foundation.
"Dead Man on Campus" is about the first year of college. The plot explores how it can be tough, especially when you're on your own for the first time and having too much fun. With the threat of failure, two freshman students resort to desperate measures to bring up their grades. Their salvation comes in the form of an arcane loophole buried in the college charter which might even let this pair slip through with straight A's.
